Dr. Brooke, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since I was 12 years old I knew my dream was to become a chiropractor. I did however not know how much I would fall in love, not only with my profession but with the ability to treat families which lead me down the path of Prenatal and Pediatric care. I attended the University of Florida then completed my Doctorate at Logan Chiropractic. I was blessed my first and current job allowed me to create the practice of my dreams. I started off seeing 3 patients a day and felt I couldn't see any growth. Looking back it was very quickly I began to build my chiropractic practice inside an all-inclusive physical therapy office. I was able to add a dynamic to the practice which wasn't currently there. I am very proud as over the last few years we have established a great team. We grew a physical therapy clinic with chiropractic care to where now we treat patients of all ages from infants to adults. I treat a wide patient population from elderly, athletes, golfers, teachers, firefighters, police and your neck and back pain patient. While my practice grew I developed a deep passion for pregnancy and pediatric care. I was able to expand my network of fellow colleagues to amazing midwives, doulas, pediatricians and OBGYNs all who support me in more ways than I could ever say thank you for. I am certified in Webster technique which is an amazing and powerful technique used during pregnancy to allow for optimum neurological functioning and therefore leads to functional improvement during pregnancy. There is so much power in a beautiful pregnancy and being able to help a mom on her journey is something I am blessed to do. Of course spending quality time with mom leads to taking care of her child and family. This has allowed me to grow my office into a beautiful, loving and caring practice. Not many people understand the value of chiropractic care during pregnancy and post-partum and I have found such joy in being able to offer these services to my patients and to be able to share in their powerful and amazing birth and labor.
We're always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we've spoken with enough people to know that it's not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There were many struggles along the way, I was guided by so many great chiropractors all who practiced under my group but none of them had experience with pregnancy and pediatrics. I was told by many it would be too hard to develop this type of practice in Boynton Beach. I did however learn a lot about establishing an office, networking and making many valuable connections all which lead me to where I am. I was very nervous and introverted at first which seemed to limit me in my skills to network. I was continually pushed by many of my colleagues to continue to grow and was able to establish friendships with many in the allopathic, osteopathic and holistic medical community. Thus, slowly I began to see changes into the practice I wanted to create. There were long hours, late nights, early breakfast meetings all which affected my sanity and ability to feel like I had time for myself. Looking back now I would not change one thing because all the tears, late nights, early mornings lead me to see and touch so many lives as well as open many eyes to the beauty of chiropractic.
So, as you know, we're impressed with Action Physical Therapy – tell our readers more, for example what you're most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I currently work for a large company with over 18 different locations called Action Physical Therapy. We span from Miami to North Palm Beach. I am one of many chiropractors we have under our company umbrella. I currently treat out of the Boynton Beach and West Palm Beach locations. I love the community of the business I work for and it allows me to treat a wide variety of patients which allows me to constantly be learning. The owner of Action has given me a great opportunity to grow and develop exactly what I wanted in my chiropractic profession. I have become known in my group for being the one to treat all the moms and babies and seem to create many connections with pediatricians, OBGYNs, doulas and midwives. I find the one amazing thing about my practice and the company I work for is it is multi-disciplinary so we treat everything here from pre-surgical, post- surgical, overall wellness, elderly, infant physical therapy and chiropractic, pregnancy and athletes. We have skilled trainers and therapist in many different areas which allows us to see many different people and touch many different people's lives. I however find my prenatal and pediatric population to be my true passion. I get to work with moms many from conception and watch their beautiful journey and many continue care with their children which there is nothing more amazing than that.
So, what's next? Any big plans?
The future is so great because there are many opportunities for growth and change. I can say you never know what will happen but happiness is key and when you love what you do it's not truly work. I hope to continue to grow my practice and especially the pediatric and pregnancy aspect of it. Working with strong powerful women in my network of prenatal care professionals has allowed me to envision a very bright future. Growth will be what allows me to touch more lives and help many more people.
