On June 21^st 2011 we broke proudly ground on what is one of the most high-profile residential pool projects in Van Kirk & Sons history.

Last year, we were approached by the good folks at the DIY Network and asked to be part of their hit home improvement show, The Vanilla Ice Project, hosted by none other than pop-culture icon, Mr. Rob Van Winkle, a.k.a. Vanilla Ice, himself.

The project entailed the demolition of the home's out-of-date pool, which was to be replaced with a lush resort-style pool-- complete with a lazy river, island tiki hut, spa, wooden bridge, bbq grill, flat screen TVs and more.

The end result was amazing, but you'll have to tune in to DIY Network to check it out! The Vanilla Ice Project airs Saturdays at 10PM/9C.

First task: Demolish the existing pool on the property. 

 This new backyard oasis would take up a much larger area than that of the existing pool.

The Van Kirk & Sons excavation staff was on site and ready for the job.

As the Van kirk team prepped for the excavation, DIY’s camera crew was on the set with Vanilla Ice to capture it all going down.

The crew from Five Star Plus Excavating also stepped in with the added help of a large excavator to help with the removal of the old pool.

The DIY camera crew preps the excavator with a GoPro camera.

 The excavator drops a 2-ton wrecking ball to break the concrete into small pieces the trucks could then take off the job site.
